HA2 Task 7 - Review

Review

Overall, I think I could have done better. Throughout my project I have had to be creative in order to design the background and my character for Lazy Eye Media.
I used Illustrator to create my digital graphics, and during the process I needed to research designs of clothing, poses, and backgrounds that suited my chosen setting. I experimented with with poses and props by taking photos of myself. Eventually I selected my favourite and used that in my work. I also researched into artistic video game styles that would look good in my type of game and "Chivalry: Medieval Warfare", which is game is a semi-realistic game, stood out.

After doing my research, I had the knowledge to draw my character and background. My character was shaped like in my photo, but had clothing appropriate to the setting it was in. The props I used suited the setting well, so I kept them in the drawing. I searched for a background of a castle on top of a hill, and drew that to be behind my character.

Overall i think my work could of gone a lot smoother, because I didn't always keep to the schedule I set myself.
I am confident enough with my work that I can officially send it to Lazy eye media, and I believe they will like it.

HA2 Task 4 - Character Profile

Character Profile

William McGeldrey

William is a 20 year old man from a family of poorly treated farmhands, and the first with the courage and skill to leave to find a better life for them. He joined the King’s Army in hopes that he may be able to bring fame, honour and power to his family name, so that his family will never be mistreated again.

William is proficient in fighting with axes, swords and shields, and practices almost daily with a bow and very basic traps & explosives. He is also skilled at operating siege weaponry like trebuchets and ballistas. William’s small frame is deceptive to both enemies on the field, and some of his superiors, which helps him gain an advantage in many situations.

Game Setting

Game Synopsis

William McGeldrey
This game is set on an alternate Earth, in which many technological advances never happened, and the world remains in the Medieval Era. It is a Third-person Action-RPG that follows a 20 year old man named William McGeldrey, who is trying to gain power and honour for him and his family, by joining the ranks of the King’s Army.
The gameplay is split between fighting on the battlefield and internal politics within the kingdom. The more they are involved in fighting and politics, the likelier it will be that they rise in the ranks of the army.

Fighting
In this game mode, you can fight on the frontlines, which, if you survive uninjured, can increase the chances of getting promotions. You can also choose to train, either in the capital, or inside a war camp. As you train, the weapons you use can swing faster, hit harder, and generally do more damage to enemies on the battlefield. When you train you won’t gain any promotions. It is possible to be wounded on the battlefield, and if you are, you cannot participate in any battles or council meetings (if you are a general).

Internal Politics
In this game mode, you can bribe or kill your way up the ranks, or you can improve relations with your superiors to increase the chances of you promoting. Killing and bribing cost substantial amounts of money, but are much more effective than any ‘legal’ options. Once you reach the rank of General, you will be allowed to enter the King’s Council, and vote for different tactics and war targets (castles/towns).
